In mid-August the San Juans played host to masters of the sitar, Pandit Shivnath Mishra, his son, Deobrat Mishra, and Marco Zonka on tabla.

These shows were one-of- a-kind and the final stops on their North American tour, before returning to India.

The Aug. 12 Lopez show is now available as a commemorative two-disc CD set.  One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Academy of Indian Classical Music in Varanasi, India.

These funds will provide scholarships to youth of all backgrounds, often from disadvantaged circumstances, providing a stable educational environment, and opportunities to advance their general learning – $120 can support a one-on-one mentorship for a year.

The concert that night was “magical” and the maestros were in rare form. Disc one includes a traditional raga containing over an hour and 20 minutes of music! Disc two features an impromptu set-break lesson in Indian scales, and two more folk songs for another 25 minutes of music.

These limited edition two-disc sets are available for a suggested minimum donation of $10. Discs are printed with full color art, and are an invaluable addition or gift for fans and collectors of live world music.
