Advent, St. Nicholas Day, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Christmas, St. Stephen’s Day, Childermass, New Year’s Day and Epiphany (Three Kings) … there are many holidays at this time of year, and all have their own musical traditions.  Under the direction of Roger Sherman, the Orcas Choral Society will present a program of music for each these holidays, some of them well known and others less celebrated. Joining the Choral Society will be the Turtleback Brass, a five-piece brass ensemble led by Steve Alboucq. The music will be as varied as the holidays, ranging from selections of ancient chant, the double-choir sound of Gabrieli, the Coventry Carol from 16th century England, and modern arrangements of familiar carols. The audience will also have the opportunity to sing with the choir.

The Choral Society will present two concerts at the Orcas Center: Saturday, Dec. 8, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9, 2 p.m. Tickets are $15, $5 for students. Call the Orcas Center Box Office 376-2281 x1 or buy tickets online at www.orcascenter.org.
