Lopez magic seeps into my bones.
No matter how much I kick and scream,
The island won’t let me
Maintain old ways.
Relaxation sinks in.
At undefended moments
when I see an eagle,
Or listen to the water
Take possession of the beach,
My own core shift occurs.
