It’s San Juan County Fair time again

The San Juan County Fair starts Wednesday, and once again Lopez will be well represented.

The 4H will be there in force, presenting talented horsemanship and animal stewardship. The Ag Tent will be full of Lopezians, as written about by Debbie Hatch in last week’s Green Living column, sharing facts and tips about gardening, cooking and other issues.

Here are some facts to know: Firstly, the fair runs from Wednesday to Saturday. Exhibits and entertainment run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and the horse events start at 9 a.m.

Ticket prices for a season pass are $18 for 65 and over, $22 for adults and $10 for youth ages 5 to 16. Children under 5 have free entry. For a daily pass, a senior ticket costs $10, adults are $12, youth get in for $5 and again, under fives get in free. If you have entered something in the fair, you can get an exhibitor pass, which is $15 for adults, and $5 for youth.

Speaking of exhibiting, It is still possible to submit entires to the fair. Today deliver your submission to the fairground between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. It is advised that you check with the department you are entering as there may be differences in deadlines. In terms of entertainment there is a wide variety of events to cater to all ages. There are various local bands playing the stages, as well as the headlining band, The Clumsy Lovers, a Bluegrass/Celtic rock group touring the western states. Kids day, where young people get to ride the rides limitlessly, is from noon till 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and costs $20.
