The Lopez Island Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the theme for this year’s Fourth of July parade: “Only on Lopez!” It’s a celebration of the quirky, creative and uniquely Lopezian spirit that makes our island so special.
The chamber invites all individuals, families, organizations and groups to take part — whether you’re riding a float, walking with friends, or rolling through in costume – the more, the merrier! And yes, we’ll have plenty of prizes, including the ever-popular award for Best Judges’ Bribe!
This year’s grand marshals are Christa Campbell and Paul Henriksen. Their decades of heartfelt dedication to our island, through environmental advocacy and community service, have helped shape Lopez into the place we love.
The parade route remains the same: starting on Fisherman Bay Road just south of The Lopez Islander Resort and Marina, winding through the Village and ending at the pharmacy on Lopez Road. Parade registration is free and begins at 9 a.m. on July 4, with the parade kicking off promptly at 11 a.m.

Later that day, enjoy the community-funded fireworks display starting at dusk over Fisherman Bay. The show is scheduled to start promptly at 10:30 p.m. There will be 15 theme categories; each theme will consist of many different sizes of individual display shells. Don’t miss the grand finale. The following day, July 5, come to Otis Perkins Park at 8 a.m. to help clean up after the big display.
A fireworks BBQ fundraiser will run from July 3-5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Bargreens’ Field with pulled pork and brisket.
