“In a Landscape: Classical Music in the Wild” is back on Orcas Island this July.
Hunter Noack and his groundbreaking classical music series will appear in Olga on July 16 and 17 during the 10th anniversary season tour.
Founded in 2016 by Noack, “In a Landscape” operates with a mission to create immersive and intimate experiences that foster a connection with classical music, nature, and one another. The series partners with national and state parks, land trusts, conservancies, historical societies, Native American reservations and schools to share live classical music experiences, most often in rural communities where those opportunities can be scarce.
The audience listens through wireless headphones, wandering afield with the music as a soundtrack to their experience, replacing the traditional concert hall with mountain tops, forests and meadows. The series has presented over 300 concerts for over 75,000 people since its inception.
The show has won multiple awards and has been featured on CBS This Morning, Los Angeles Times and TEDxPortland. Noack’s journey to bring this vision to life is full of fascinating insights into creativity, overcoming challenges and the thrill of taking risks in uncharted territory.
