Hot food, hot music, and hot stuff are in store at the benefit for Craig Withrow the blacksmith Friday, Nov. 27, 6 p.m. at the Lopez Community Center. Scheduled after the Village Lighting Ceremony, sponsors of this event are hoping people will come into the Lopez Community Center to warm up – with lots of hot chili and dancing to Lopez’s own hot band Tiempo de Lopez. There will also be some hot items at a silent auction, with many works by local artists, special dinners, services, and a weekend on the Oregon Coast.

Entrance is by donation; beef and vegetarian chili and desserts will be for sale.

Withrow, an artist and blacksmith, was diagnosed with leukemia in September. He is in remission, but is struggling with medical bills. All proceeds from the benefit will go towards his care. For more information or to donate food or items for the silent auction, contact Lynne Keeley at 468-4367. To make a cash donation directly, contact Islanders Bank.
