Do you want to learn to ‘Grow Your Own Food’? San Juan County Health & Community Services and WSU Extension San Juan County Master Gardeners are pleased to announce a free four-week ‘Grow Your Own Food’ program for those interested in learning about vegetable gardening hands-on!
The program centers around vegetable gardening in the Pacific Northwest and will be held at the Master Gardener Demo Garden on the corner of Market Street and Nash Street next to the Joyce L Sobel Family Resource Center and Mullis Community Senior Center. Each week will have a different focus where you can learn to:
• Create a planting plan.
• Transplant seeds.
• Fertilize and water.
• Care for and maintain garden tools.
• Harvest and enjoy your bounty!
Grow Your Own Food will be offered every Friday from noon to 1 p.m. from May 30 to June 20. Preregistration is required, and space is limited. Please sign up online or call HCS at 360-378-4474 to register for this garden education series.
And don’t miss out on garden summer fun for the littles because Seed to Sprout is back! Preschool-age children and their families are invited to this free Early Learning Gardening Program to do some hands-on learning every other week this summer. Have some fun in the sun and learn about vegetable gardening! Dates will be announced soon.
