Evening of Celtic Music and Mythic Tale

Submitted by event organizer.

Internationally acclaimed Celtic fiddle virtuoso Jamie Laval returns to his Pacific Northwest roots for a concert at the Lopez Center Church, Thursday, May 4, at 7:30 PM. Joining Jamie will be musical comrades Rod Weeks of Milton, WA and local Lopez favorite Stanley Greenthal. Jamie Laval creates rapt audiences with his impassioned musical style and engaging storytelling. Currently based in Asheville, North Carolina, Jamie was a winner of the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championship, has performed for Her Majesty the Queen, appeared on Dave Matthews’ platinum Some Devil album, and presented a TEDx Talk on the value of arts and music in our communities. Collaborating with Jamie will be instrumentalist Rod Weeks, an accomplished performer of the bagpipes and leader of multiple pipe bands in the Pacific Northwest. Rod plays a rare and subtle type of Scottish instrument known as the Scottish Smallpipes, which imparts a warm and melodious timbre to the ancient musical style. Well-known to Lopez residents is Stanley Greenthal, who will join the pair with his acclaimed singing and authentic, Irish-style guitar and bouzouki backup. Lopez Center Church has kindly provided the intimate venue for this special event. Admission is by suggested donation of $20–$30. Please visit www.JamieLaval.com/tickets to reserve your seat with the option of a donation prepayment.
