It all started with a cookie from a treasured old family recipe from the kitchen of Vivian Burt.

Once upon a time on an island that you know, a lovely Lopezian lady shared a special cookie recipe with another lovely Lopezian lady and after one bite… we have a dance party!

Come on out and shake your wild thing on Saturday, June 29, at 7 p.m. at the Community Center to your favorite dance tunes and videos of the ‘70s, ‘80s and the new hotness beyond. Prizes will be awarded to the Grooviest Cat of the ‘70s and Coolest Hottie of the ‘80s.

DJ Mario Anzaldua will be rockin’ the rock under his Texas sized disco ball ‘til 11 p.m. We hope you will join us for an evening of fun and dancing and tacos as the El Taco ‘Bout it rolling party will be there to provide some spicy local flavor. The event is free for all, and if you have a good time and would like to sow some seeds for future dances (and maybe more), we will be accepting donations to support the Community Center with sweet thank-you treats.

Anzaldua will be on island visiting family for a while and contemplating full-time island life. His resume includes great success in the restaurant arena specializing in Texas-style barbeque and Mexican food. Please give him a warm island welcome, and we look forward to seeing y’all on the dance floor!
