“Canzoni: Poetry in Italian Songs and Melodies” with Beppe Gambetta is Sunday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Beppe Gambetta is an Italian acoustic guitar flatpicker and singer, he has been called a “virtual United Nations of influences: Italian, Ukrainian, Appalachian, Sardinisn and Celtic.” Beppe is a composer, teacher, and researcher of traditional music and instruments.
The July 20 concert will focus on the rich repertoire of Italian traditional and popular songs and on the re-discovery and re-arrangement of the work of iconic Italian singer-songwriters.
In his artistic work Beppe likes to re-propose songs with powerful poetic meaning and he brings them to a new life and interpretation based on his stylish acoustic guitar.
In this special “Canzoni” performance Beppe is also a storyteller, giving translations of the lyrics and bringing the audience on a journey through Italian songs by the great works of artists like Fabrizio De André, Francesco Guccini, Sergio Endrigo and many others. The evening will be a delightful journey through passionate melody, poetry and guitar.
