Bach: fifth Brandenburg and Triple Concerti

Two of Johann Sebastian Bach’s most profound orchestral works will be offered in “Bach: Fifth Brandenburg Concerto and Triple Concerto” the final program in the 2022 Salish Sea Early Music Festival.

The concert takes place on Saturday, May 28 at noon at Grace Church at 70 Sunset Lane off of Fisherman Bay Road on Lopez Island. A suggested donation of $15, $20 or $25 (a free will offering) will be requested, and those 18 & under are free. Masks and vaccination are required. Jonathan Oddie, newly named professor of harpsichord at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, returns to perform two of the most moving and difficult works by Johann Sebastian Bach for harpsichord and orchestra with soloists baroque violinist Cari Krause and baroque flutist Jeffrey Cohan along with a baroque string orchestra comprised of Elizabeth Phelps and Courtney Kuroda, violins, Lindsey Strand-Polyak, viola and cellist Martin Bonham from Victoria. Carrie Krause will perform Antonio Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto “La Stravaganza” No 3 in G and Jeffrey Cohan will perform Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s Flute Concerto in D Major alongside the two fabulous concerti by Bach: his Fifth Brandenburg Concerto and his Triple Concerto, both for solo harpsichord, flute and violin with orchestra.
