Award to promote youth boating safety

Lopez Island Yacht Club is establishing an “Annual Award to Promote Youth Boating and Water Safety” Based on the unanimous vote of the LIYC board and the 100% positive response from polling the members, the yacht club is establishing an annual award of $1000.* We plan to announce the winner(s) of this award on July 4 immediately after the annual Lopez Island parade. We will contact the winning organization directly. We will also post the name of the winner on our website. If your organization meets the criteria below, you are encouraged to complete the application detailing how your organization meets these goals. Include an overview of your program detailing your goals, scope, number of members and volunteers. Include the number of youth who have benefited from your organization each year. You will also need to describe how this award would be used.The award will go to the organization that successfully meets the following requirements:

Lopez Island based non-profit organization serving local youth (21 years or younger).

Focused on teaching local youth boating skills and water safety.

An established program.

Must be able to provide status documenting non-profit status.

Applications must be received no later than Friday, June 28. Your response will need to be in writing (electronic and/or printed) addressing how your organization best meets the requirements listed above. Applications including the letter and the application form should be mailed to LIYC P.O.Box 22, Lopez Island, WA 98261 or emailed to the address above. The LIYC board members will carefully review all letters and applications submitted and postmarked by June 28 and will then select the winner(s).
