Imagine experiencing some of The Beatles’ most monumental and complex compositions live.

Imagine experiencing some of The Beatles’ most monumental and complex compositions live.

When The Beatles quit touring in 1966, they went into the studio to record some of the greatest rock albums of all time, including Sgt. Pepper’s, The White Album and Abbey Road. Spirited renditions of the mature pop songs and transcendental song-writing of these studio years will be the focus for the Abbey Road Live! show on Saturday, July 19, 7 p.m. at Lopez Center.

The Center booked the four lads from Athens, Georgia after program committee member Irene Skyriver experienced their performance on the mainstage at the Oregon Country Fair last year. A long-time Beatlemaniac, Irene remembers screaming with a bunch of other 9-year-olds outside the Port Townsend Uptown Theatre before a screening of the movie “Help!”

About the Abbey Road Live! show, Irene said, “I was concerned this would be a sappy tribute by some mop-top imitators, but the band electrified with their wonderful musicianship and nuanced interpretations. The crowd was transfixed, singing along to every word.”

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for youth, and are available on-line at www.lopezcenter.com, or from the Lopez Center office, Paper Scissors on the Rock, Blossom Organic Grocery, Islehaven Books, or Islandale.
