4th annual Rhythm and Waves Music Festival

Get ready to dance and sing along at Lopez Center’s Rhythm and Waves Music Festival! On Saturday, Aug. 10, from 5-8:30 p.m., three great bands are performing, including top local talent and a Skagit County favorite. Everyone is invited to this outdoor family dance party!

Opening the Festival is Lopez’s own Sundown Rush playing classic rock favorites. This seasoned band features Jesse Hammond on guitar and vocals; Bill Diller on bass; Monico McKinnon on drums and vocals; and Hawk Arps on keyboard and vocals.

Then Total Abandon takes the stage, featuring Bill Johnson on guitar and vocals; Albert Leo on guitar and lead vocals; Doug Cram on bass and vocals; and Aaryn Knox on drums. There will be fun dance music by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Steppenwolf, Neil Diamond and others.

Headlining the festival is a favorite dance band from Skagit County, Midlife Crisis and the Alimony Horns featuring Chris Eger on bass, guitar and lead vocals; Randall Eger on bass, guitar and vocals; Rick Jiles on keyboard and lead vocals; and Joe Natola on drums and vocals. The Horn Section features Larry Wilhelm on valve bone; Pete Kirkman on trumpet; and Mike West on tenor sax. They cover Steely Dan, Chicago, The Eagles, Tower of Power, Tom Petty, Hall and Oates, Allen Parsons, Huey Lewis, Santana, INXS, Motown and newer dance tunes.

Bring a chair or blanket and dancing shoes for this fabulous event. For your dining pleasure, local food vendors and a beer garden will be on site. El Taco ‘Bout It is serving fresh Mexican favorites. The Edenwild boys will be serving hot dogs and ice cream. The popular Poutine In Your Mouth truck will be serving hearty, creative meals. Anacortes Brewery beer will be featured in the beer garden.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for youth (6-17) and children 5 and under are free. Tickets are available at lopezcenter.org, Paper Scissors on the Rock, Lopez Book Shop, Blossom Organic Grocery and at the door. See you there!
