In about three weeks our ballots will arrive in the mail. We will have a county-wide election where we will elect three county council members, each of whom will represent the entire county (going back to the system we had five years ago). Everybody in the county will be voting for three candidates, one from each of the three residency districts.

In residency district 3, I’m urging everyone to vote for Jamie Stephens. Jamie has lived on Lopez for 17 years and during that time he has shown a consistent commitment to community.

He has served on multiple boards and committees and currently is chair of the council. When San Juan County needed a presence in Washington, D.C. Jamie paid his own way to fly there to represent our county. A full list of Jamie’s community involvement is available at electjamiestephens.com.

As we slowly come out of this recession San Juan County needs competent, effective government. With Jamie as part of a new three person county council we will have that. He has the experience, leadership and knowledge to help move us forward.

I urge all county residents to vote for Jamie Stephens.
