As the colder weather approaches, there are lots of good reasons to stay indoors – to stay warm, visit with friends and family and visit the library!
The Thanksgiving weekend is almost upon us and the library stands ready to help. There are a display of mouth-watering cookbooks and DVDs to get your culinary juices flowing, handily located across from the service desk.
Many thanks to our community for the great turn out for the Friends of the Lopez Island Library book sale on July Fourth. We had one of the best sales ever and sold out of our book bag specials by 11 a.m.! Kudos to our hard-working volunteers who work all year sorting and preparing for our twice a year book sales. Here are some examples of where the money goes:
Summer is coming and the reading is easy – if you know where your library is. Just a reminder, there are no limits on number of books you can check out or number of times you can renew a book, CD, or magazine. The big thing is that if the item is on hold for someone else, get that returned pronto to avoid having your record blocked and making your neighbor wait for what is a shared community resource. End of lecture!
Listen up all you audio book lovers. The Lopez Island Library now has a new free service for downloading audio books to your computer, iPod or other MP3 player, called NetLibrary eAudiobooks. The library recently subscribed to Netlibrary for the community. You can access thousands of audio books from home, school, or office from this site www.netlibrary.org.
