Wenatchee Valley College Chamber Singers to perform at Lopez Center on Sunday, May 22 at 4 p.m. Admission is by donation; all proceeds will benefit the Lopez Center. We are delighted to welcome back the Wenatchee Valley College Chamber Singers, who graced the Lopez Center stage two years ago, giving an inspired, delightful, skilled, and enthusiastically received performance!
The Singers will perform an eclectic repertoire from traditional sacred and secular choral works to mariachi, jazz and even arrangements of the Beatles. The Wenatchee Valley College Chamber Singers, one of North Central Washington’s premiere choirs, has a long history dating back to almost 1939 when the college first started. The current WVC Chamber Singers, directed by Juel Iwaasa, regularly performs a varied program. The Lopez performance will feature 24 members of the choir.
“Tour is an indispensable experience for collegiate choir members,” music program director Juel Iwaasa said. “The focused effort of preparing for tour, and then rehearsing, performing and serving while on tour causes choir members, and the ensemble as a whole, to grow exponentially as musicians and leaders.”
This concert is a wonderful gift from the Wenatchee Valley Music program, every two years the department is funded for a small tour. This year’s tour includes Lopez, Shaw and Orcas Islands. All performances are donated. The energy, talent and excitement of the students and director is intoxicating, don’t miss this opportunity.
