Cali Bagby, editor of the Islands’ Weekly, spent three months as an embedded journalist in Afghanistan and 11 months in Iraq. Join her at Ron Metcalf’s house this Wednesday at 7 p.m., as she shares her experiences, photojournalism and multimedia mainly focused on her time in Afghanistan. Her work has appeared in the BBC, Washington Post, the Oregonian and small town newspapers across the country. Bagby was also featured in a University of Oregon documentary delving into her time in Afghanistan. Her work focuses on understanding the men and women of the armed forces, the local culture and the foreign nationals who serve behind “the curtain” and everyday life in a war zone and how it fits into the bigger picture of conflict itself.
Come and join us at Sunnyfield Farm for the presentation. For those who haven’t been here before, the address is 6363 Fisherman Bay Rd, a little South of the school near the intersection with Center Rd.
