The League of Women Voters of the San Juans, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, is sponsoring a voter forum on Lopez for residents to hear from Hospital District 2 and from Hospital District 5 candidates, as well as from Parks and Recreation Commission candidates. The forum is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 5:30 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church.

Attending will be Hospital District 2 candidate Corey Casper and Albert Berger, who will be representing Steve Greenstein. From Hospital District 5, candidates Albert Berger and Heather Arps will both be attending. We have also invited all four candidates from the Parks and Recreation Commission and are anticipating that they will attend.

The voter forums are moderated events during which candidates will present introductory statements and respond to questions, within time limits. All four candidates have confirmed that they will attend. The League of Women Voters requires civil discourse in forums, and all questions to candidates must meet that requirement.

Community members who wish to ask questions of candidates but cannot attend in person may email their questions in advance of the forums to the League at pres.lwvsji@gmail.com. Please keep questions as succinct as possible. Also note that questions may be combined or edited.

There is no charge to attend; however, local voter forums are funded by donations to the League of Women Voters of the San Juans. We therefore request that attendees make a donation at the event so we can continue to offer local candidate forums. The suggested donation is $20, or less for those who cannot afford the suggested amount. The League of Women Voters of the San Juans is grateful for this opportunity to serve the people of Lopez Island.
