Square dancing is fun again

Submitted by Chris Miller

The Festival of American Fiddle Tunes in Port Townsend brings renowned musicians from around the world for a week of concerts, dances, workshops and jams.

The Lopez Island square dance (happening monthly and now entering its fifth year) has become a popular stopover for many en route to the festival, and we’re continuing the tradition of having a Fiddle Tunes kickoff dance Saturday June 29, featuring some very special surprise guest musicians.

The dance takes place at 7:30 p.m. at the Lopez Island Grange with a potluck at 6 p.m. Local favorites Kelsey Nelsen and Gabe Strain will call. No partner or experience necessary, and all dances are taught!
