The San Juan County Economic Development Council invites businesses, nonprofits and community organizations to attend a free online workshop, Getting Started with Claude, on Wednesday, June 10, from 9-10 a.m. via Zoom.
Claude, developed by Anthropic, is one of the fastest-growing artificial intelligence platforms and is particularly well known for its writing capabilities, document analysis and emphasis on safety and privacy. Designed for beginners and intermediate users alike, this practical workshop will help participants understand how Claude can be used to save time, improve communications and support day-to-day operations.
Participants will learn how organizations are using Claude to draft newsletters, create marketing materials, summarize reports, develop grant narratives, conduct research, create internal procedures and analyze complex documents. The workshop will also explore Claude Projects, which allow organizations to create customized workspaces tailored to their unique goals, voice and operational needs.
In addition to practical applications, the session will cover responsible AI use, including privacy considerations, data security, accuracy, environmental impacts and organizational guardrails.
Instructor Victoria Compton is executive director of the EDC of San Juan County and has facilitated AI and other workshops for businesses, nonprofits, economic development organizations and public-sector entities throughout Washington state. She has developed AI implementation frameworks and policies for organizations ranging from small nonprofits to public agencies and is a multi-year practitioner of generative AI technologies.
The workshop is free of charge and requires pre-registration at https://form.jotform.com/250696968142166.
