A highly anticipated community event is returning to Lopez Island this spring, as a group of accomplished young performers presents an afternoon concert dedicated to both artistry and community care.

The Chamber Music Benefit Concert will take place Saturday, May 23, at 3 p.m. at Grace Church.

The program features musicians who share a commitment to using music as a means of healing and human connection. Among them are students and researchers affiliated with the Weill Cornell Music and Medicine Initiative in New York City. This innovative program integrates music into the medical field, offering participants opportunities to engage in chamber ensembles, orchestral performance and hospital outreach alongside their academic and clinical work.

While the concert promises an intimate and engaging musical experience, its purpose extends well beyond the stage. All proceeds will benefit Lopez Island Home and Hospice, a vital community organization that provides compassionate care and essential support services for residents and their families.

“These talented musicians approached us with a genuine desire to give back to the Lopez community,” said Stephanie Vallejo of Lopez Island Home and Hospice. “They’re returning this year with an even larger group, and their performances are truly not to be missed. It’s inspiring to see young people channel their artistry into acts of kindness—offering both beauty and comfort through music.”

A suggested donation of $25 will be accepted at the door, helping keep the event accessible while encouraging support for the cause.

Organizers note that the concert offers a rare opportunity to experience high-caliber live music in an intimate setting while contributing to a meaningful local mission. The event is open to the public, and attendees of all ages are welcome.
