Orcas man flown off-island for gunshot wound to his chest

Submitted by San Juan County Undersheriff Zac Reimer.

Deputies on Orcas Island received a report that a male had driven to the Eastsound Fire Station with a single gunshot wound to his chest on Feb. 18 at 9:19 a.m.

The man, a resident of Orcas Island, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be treated for his injuries. He appeared to be in serious but stable condition. There is no reason to believe that the public is at any risk with the information that we have at this point.

We are actively working on this case, so I have no further information to release at this time. I will send out an updated press release when more information becomes available for release.
