Island Stage Left, the islands’ only professional theatre company, celebrates its 10th anniversary of “Shakespeare Under the Stars” by mounting Shakespeare’s glorious swansong “The Tempest.”

A usurped duke and his young daughter are marooned on an enchanted island. Twelve years later, a tempest brings their enemies to the same shore. Revenge is in the air. Freedom beckons.

In turns imaginative, hilarious, dynamic and achingly human, this is Shakespeare’s last and perhaps greatest play teeming with comedy, romance, music, revenge and forgiveness.

Stage Left performs from July 11 to August 23. All performances are at 8:00 p.m.

Waldron Island: July 11.

Shaw Island: July 12.

Lopez Vineyards: July 13 and 14.

San Juan Island: 1062 Wold Rd, July 18 through 27.

Roche Harbor Outdoor Stage: July 31 to August 10 and August 13 to August 23.
