Second Annual Lopez Island Home Tour and Auction
June 17, 2008 · Updated 12:19 PM
Waterfront vistas, rolling hills, and dramatic bluff views are just some of the highlights of the second annual Lopez Island Home Tour, scheduled for Saturday, September 17, on Lopez Island. The tour runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is self-guided.
Homeowners, builders, and local and nationally known architects have designed the nine houses included on the tour. All the houses are unique, and all reflect the families who have made them homes.
A reception and light supper follow the tour, to be held at Lopez Center for Community and the Arts. Lopez jazz pianist Richard Singer will entertain; desserts will be provided by some of the island's best bakers. A highlight of the evening is the live auction, which will include a bi-plane ride, get-away weekends, a gourmet dinner, and original artwork by Lopez artist Christa Malay. Robert Herrmann is the auctioneer.
The Home Tour is the major annual fundraiser for Lopez Center. "Proceeds from ticket sales and the auction help us to keep events and use fees affordable for the community," said Jan Sundquist, chair of the Center's Board of Trustees.
Tickets for the Home Tour, reception and auction are $40, and are available at Lopez Center, Islehaven Books, Paper Scissors on the Rock and at the Lopez Farmers' Market on Saturdays at the Lopez Center booth. A limited number of $20 tour-only tickets are also available.
