The September primary is vote-by-mail. Ballots will be mailed September 2 and must be postmarked by September 20. Please read the following information carefully to ensure you vote properly.

For voters in the San Juan Island School District (San Juan, Brown, Henry, Pearl and Stuart Islands), three ballots will be mailed:

(D) San Juan School Levy and the commissioner race for District 3, (R) San Juan School Levy and write-in (Republican only) for commissioner, and (NP) San Juan School Levy only--not the commissioner race.

For voters on ALL other islands, two ballots will be mailed:

(D) Commissioner race for District 3, (R) Write-in (Republican only) for commissioner.

Any Republican wishing to vote for either Bob Myhr or Jamie Stephens in the commissioner race MUST vote in the Democratic ballot. A vote in the Republican ballot will not count. Please remember that all of San Juan County, not just District 3, votes on the County Commissioner race.

Write-ins on the Republican ballot: if an individual receives 1 percent or more of the total votes cast, that person will go on to the General Election. E.g., if 8,000 votes are cast, an individual receiving 80 write-in votes will go on to the General.
