The Goat Goes On
June 17, 2008 · Updated 12:13 PM
The winner of the 2005 Great Goat Give-Away,. which benefits Lopez Island Hospice & Home Support, Inc., has been announced. Steven Chock of Lopez, caught without Goat Insurance, chose to receive a stuffed goat, rather than a live one.
The winning ticket was drawn by LIHHS Board Chairperson Marge Karpen, who made the presentation at the annual Salmon Bake on July 4th. Chock's wife Annie and friends looked on, enjoying the moment.
Chock is a retired Hawaiian Airlines pilot who spends summers on Lopez and winters in Hawaii. He said he was aware of the annual LIHHS Great Goat Give-Away but purchased neither raffle tickets nor Goat Insurance this year. As of press time he had not yet named his new goat.
On behalf of LIHHS, board member Ginger Riggins thanks all the volunteers who sold tickets, insurance, and No-Goat t-shirts, and all who participated in this year's successful campaign. The vivid lime-green t-shirts are still available at Village Apparel, and will be sold at the LIHHS Media Fair in September. The price is $16.00.
