Health: Baby food recall announced
June 17, 2008 · Updated 11:37 AM
About 20,000 cases of organic baby food are being recalled because jars might contain broken glass, County Health Officer Frank James announced.
The batches of Organic Baby and Naturally Preferred were produced in December 2001, but do not expire until the end of this year. Manufacturers' representatives said many jars' contents likely already have been consumed.
The brands are sold at grocery stores nationwide, and part of the recalled batch was distributed in Washington state.
Recalled are 4-ounce jars of Organic Baby carrots bearing the lid code 3391 J30; green beans and rice with the code 3391 J33; and winter squash bearing the lid code 3541 J34.
Consumers may return unused jars to the place of purchase for refund or call J.R. Wood at (800) 544-4485.
