Assessor parcel maps available on 'Net
June 17, 2008 · Updated 11:36 AM
County Assessor Paul Dossett has completed a project to provide assessor parcel maps to the public via the Internet.
The interactive parcel map project involved several key county employees and a Web developer. "Special recognition goes to Bruce McDanold, Central Services manager; Dan Powell, assessor/GIS cartographer; Critter Thompson, GIS systems specialist; and The Gartrell Group, Web site developer," Dossett said in a press release.
The public may access links to the assessor maps at the San Juan County Assessors Web site at the following address, http://www.co.san-juan.wa.us/assessor/default.asp or access the San Juan County Web site and search for the Assessors Office.
From the assessors home page, a person may link either the interactive county map, which can be zoomed in to the parcel(s) of interest or search by tax parcel number and site address.
Users will find a legend of features that can be turned on by refreshing the map and information about the parcel is available by clicking the (i) icon and then the clicking the parcel(s) of interest.
All information displayed at the assessors web site is public information. The assessor hopes that people find the map and related information useful in their daily lives. As funding will allow, the assessor plans to improve the site. Public comments are always welcome, Dossett said.
