It’s got a lofty title and participants can reach great heights.

The Lopez Island International Paper Airplane Contest is March 28, 1-4 p.m., in the Lopez School Gym. Competition is by age group: 8 and under, 9-12, 13-17, 18 and over. Ribbons will be awarded for longest flight, accuracy and time aloft.

For a $1 donation, each entrant receives five sheets of paper. Additional paper will be available at $1 for five sheets. Entrants must use paper provided and all airplanes must be constructed on site during contest hours. Paper clips and scotch tape are allowed in construction, but no other materials may be used.

Bring scissors, tape, paper clips, plans and your ground crew. (Ground crews may “advise and assist” in 8 and Under group, and “advise” in 9–12 group.)

The contest is A Whole Family Event sponsored by Lopez Island Family Resource Center.
