Last October, Navigating Our Future sponsored a conference in Friday Harbor. This conference, attended by more than 100 islanders, was dedicated to identifying and formulating action plans to ensure our children and our children's children inhabit an island community consistent with our values. An outgrowth of that meeting was the identification of a number of actionable issues associated with different topics of island life.

Over the next year, Navigating Our Future will sponsor a series of public forums to address those issues. The first of these forums will be Feb. 28 on Lopez Island.

The forum will include a tour of a sustainable, organic farmsteads, a panel discussion of issues associated with local agricultural and food production, audience participation in formulating an action plan to address agriculture and food related issues, and conclude with a community potluck.

Come hear what local experts Henning Sehmsdorf, Bob Wilson, M.D., John Goekler, Anna Anderson, Tom Schultz, and Elizabeth Simpson have to say about food grown on the islands.

Farm Tour: 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m.; panel and discussion, 1:30-5 p.m.; potluck, 5-6 p.m.
