San Juan County Sheriff’s Department reported responding to these calls:

Oct. 1: An Eastsound man’s visit to a local bar resulted in a notice to his probation officer. The deputy who discovered the 24-year-old in the bar was aware of the probation restrictions. He reportedly forwarded the notice to probation authorities.

Oct. 5: After ignoring a bartender’s order to leave, a Friday Harbor man was arrested on charges of criminal trespass when he also refused to follow instructions of deputies. The 48-year-old man reportedly was intoxicated when the confrontation with the bartender erupted, and dared him to call the police.

— Warnings were issued to a Lopez Island boy who let his dog roam free near Aleck Bay. A neighbor, whose flock of sheep were attacked by marauding dogs previously, notified authorities about the dog and warned the boy of the consequences if it disturbs his livestock.

Oct. 6: Four teens were arrested on alcohol charges after deputies found them pushing a car out of the ditch on Douglas Road on San Juan Island. The driver, a Friday Harbor 17-year-old, was also cited for driving without a license or identification.

Oct. 7: A 30-year-old Friday Harbor man was arrested on two warrants, one from Superior Court and the other from District Court. The man was arrested two years ago during the first meth lab bust in the county.

— A hunting rifle and 30 rounds of ammunition vanished from the pickup of an Orcas Island man who left his truck in the upper parking lot at the ferry terminal. The 29-year-old reported the locks of the pickup don’t work. The Winchester is valued at $600.

Oct. 8: A Friday Harbor woman filed a report of fraud after discovering a man in Delaware is using her husband’s name and Social Security number. The couple became curious when monthly mortgage bills stopped arriving and alarmed when the mortgage company reported use of the local man’s identity in Delaware.

One of four people the 47-year-old woman contacted in the nation’s First State advised her to contact local authorities, who in turn recommended contacting creditors and suggested destroying financial and personal documents rather than discarding them in the trash.

— Four property owners on San Juan Island filed separate reports of property damage involving parked cars, fences and mailboxes.

A woman on San Juan Valley Road reported her mailbox was knocked off its post after being struck by a large piece of firewood.

A woman on Douglas Road claims someone drove into her fence, uprooted two posts, and damaged its wires.

A Friday Harbor woman reported an impact forced her car two feet from where it was parked along Little Creek Road when it was struck from behind.

A woman on Roche Harbor Road reported someone drove through her fence and twice across her field before leaving the property.

Oct. 9: A Lopez Island woman filed a complaint following a co-worker’s repeated violations of a no-contact order. The 32-year-old school teacher claims the co-worker knowingly violates distance limits outlined in the order and fears his transgressions are an attempt to intimidate her.

Authorities are investigating allegations that the 38-year-old man abused his children. The man and woman once lived together. She is the primary witness in the case of alleged abuse.

— A Lopez Island woman claims her estranged husband gave more than the traditional “Lopez Wave” when they passed on Center Road. On advice of her counselor, she reported his gesture was an attempt to communicate with her in violation of a no-contact order.

— The “dimples” disappeared from the northbound lane of Terrace Drive near the top of the road in the San Juan Island neighborhood. The speed bumps reportedly cost $150 to replace.

— The Orcas Island High School Mutt-Mitt — a container dispensing cleanup bags for dog poop — disappeared from school grounds without a trace. The mitt was attached to a post near the baseball field. Ripping it off the post reportedly required a great deal of force, and about $200 will be needed to replace it.

Oct. 10: A Bellingham man claims the pilot of a boat based in Friday Harbor is responsible for the disappearance of 15 crab pots that he dropped in Alden Bay on Henry Island. The 42-year-old man reported witnesses in the area confirm his suspicions about the boat, but no names or distinguishing features of the boat or pilot were identified. The pots are valued at $975.

— Warrants for fraud from Island County prompted the arrest of a 28-year-old Friday Harbor man. He is wanted on charges of writing fraudulent checks and was also cited for driving with a suspended license.

Oct. 11: A 40-year-old Friday Harbor woman turned herself in and was cited for fourth-degree assault following unrest at a tavern in town. She reportedly threw a bottle of steak sauce at another woman, which caused several cuts on the woman’s face when it shattered.
