With the Hiyu out for repairs, Washington State Ferries will adjust its scheduled sailings in the San Juans to accommodate inter-island travelers for the remainder of Tuesday, and Wednesday morning.

Schedule adjustments for Wednesday morning:

The Hyak will make a 6:20 a.m. westbound departure from Anacortes, and make all stops: Lopez at 7:10 a.m., Shaw at 7:15 a.m., Orcas at 7:35 a.m., and arrive in Friday Harbor at 8:15 a.m.

Eastbound, the Hyak will depart Friday Harbor at 8:30 a.m., stopping at Orcas at 9:15 a.m., at Shaw at 9:30 a.m., and at Lopez at 9:50 a.m., before returning to Anacortes at 10:30 a.m.

Times are approximates.

Standard inter-island service will resume with the 9:55 a.m. sailing from Lopez, provided by the 64-car Chetzemoka. This vessel is new to San Juans so times may vary.

Arrival and departure times are estimates. Allow for plenty of time to ensure loading.

The Hiyu, which can carry up to 34 cars, joined the San Juan fleet Saturday, Oct. 8, after the Yakima, which carries up to 144 autos, was removed after maintenance crews found signs of abnormal wear and tear on the journal bearing of the Yakima. The bearing provides support for the boat's propulsion shaft.

The Yakima, which carries up to 144 automobiles, was removed from service late last week for repairs.
