'Samy the Squid' by Cyrus Froning

his favorite comic strips are “Calvin and Hobbes,” “Garfield” and “Wizard of Id.” The nine-year-old like comics that are funny, but also have a storyline.

Cyrus has been drawing for years, but tried his hand at comics around October. The cartoon was inspired by his mother who asked him to create a  Christmas themed comic, which he did.

Samy the Squid was an ideal first character because “it’s the easiest to draw,” he said.
