Writing camp at Lopez Library

Submitted by the Lopez Island Library

Have you ever wanted to write a novel, short story, screenplay or memoir? Are you already a writer and looking for some motivation to help you get words on the page? Join National Novel Writing Month ambassador Elizabeth Menozzi for Camp NaNoWriMo at the Lopez Library. Beginning on Wednesday, June 26, and happening every Wednesday in July at 4:30 p.m. in the library, Camp NaNoWriMo is a kind of writer’s retreat, designed for maximum flexibility and creativity. You may have heard of National Novel Writing Month, the annual initiative that takes place every November, and challenges creative writers to write 50,000 words of a new novel in one month. Camp NaNoWriMo is based on this model, but with much more flexibility. Writers set their own word-count goals, and work on whatever writing project they feel like. Every Wednesday, Menozzi will be on site at the library to help motivate writers to come together and work on their individual projects in a supportive environment that helps get more words on the page. Drop-ins are welcome. Please contact the library with any questions. Bring your own writing supplies, and Come Write In!
