Giving Thanks

This week we gather around the table to enjoy the feast. Some may refuse the holiday because of the past and the “real” story regarding the Natives, etc. but most will recognize that things change, perspectives change, and Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be a day of total gluttony; rather it can be a quiet day to be grateful and focus on the gifts we have been given during this tumultuous year. For those celebrating, pull out all the stops; make this Thanksgiving special and fun and extra good. No arguing, no political discussions, just a fabulous feast to give thanks for each other and where we are.

The only fly in the ointment this week will be an argument between Mercury and Uranus on Wednesday…if there is snow on the road that day, don’t drive if you don’t have to. Don’t buy anything expensive on that day and make a contingency plan to deal with whatever Wednesday may bring. Most likely it will be the traditional winter storm and power outage, but we know how to get around that here in Puget Sound. Get the plans ready for Plan B so that everyone knows where to go and what to do if a wood stove and lanterns are in order.

This will be my first Thanksgiving in six years and I am so grateful to be here in my own country. I will be thinking of all of you and hoping your day is the best in many years. Make it so and don’t let any skanky attitudes wreck it. Zero tolerance for negativity and nitpicking. Peace to all this special week!

Aries (March 21- April 19): The Sun enters gregarious Sagittarius today, joining Mercury and Mars who are hand in hand in your sector of Expansion. You can expect far reaching ideas now, and with Jupiter having gone direct, wow! You are reaping the benefits of past actions that either went unrecognized or got delayed. Whether or not Thanksgiving brings snow, you won’t care because you’re set to feast and make merry.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Your Ruler Venus being in direct motion fills you with the resolve to reach out this week and maybe invite an extra person or two to the table on Thursday. You may have your eye on a pricey item that would make your life easier, and as long as it won’t break your bank go ahead and get it. You like quality and don’t like to sacrifice. The Sun, Mercury and Mars are all in your sector of shared assets and you’re ready to shop!

Gemini (May 21- June 20): You’re no doubt busy with plans for the Day of the Feast, and with the Sun joining your Ruler Mercury and Mars in your sector of relationships, you’re thinking outside the box this year. If you’re not hosting the gathering, you are adding the needed embellishments to make it a fun and perfect day for all. Your mind is focused and you’re able to tend to details…a rarity for you! Being a gadget-type, look for sales online rather than joining the fray in the big box stores; even better, shop local!

Cancer (June 21 – July 22): The good stuff from last week continues, and you’re moving ahead preparing for Thanksgiving. Be sure to pace yourself so you don’t get worn out and cranky. If you have your eye on something pricey, don’t buy it this week during the big sale days because you’ll regret it, or it won’t be as good as you thought. This especially applies for Friday and Saturday. Wait until next week and you’ll feel better about shopping. Follow your instincts.

Leo (July 23 – August 22): This month just keeps getting better due to so much activity in your sector of creative expression; there is just a lot of fun in the air and you want to be part of it, but on your own terms. If you’re an artist of any kind, inspiration is yours for the taking and you should be making real headway now. As we wind up for the Holiday season, think about how you want to decorate this year. This year has been awful for the most part, so make whatever cheer you can with eye candy.

Virgo (August 23 – September 21): You may have too many invitations to be able to accept, and you also may be over crowded on Thursday due to unpredictable circumstances around this holiday. Stay flexible and roll with it; you’re a lovable type and stick to your guns if someone is trying to get you to change your menu; you want to celebrate and you’ll be rebellious about it; your nearest and dearest know you well enough to go along with it and love it! Don’t get so bogged down in one detail that you throw the whole project off. Sing a lot!

Libra (September 22 – October 23): Oh, fun! Last week’s turn for the better continues now and you may be leaving for Thanksgiving; this is a good thing and you’ll be happy to have a change of protocol. With the Sun joining Mercury and Mars in your sector of short trips, you’re likely to have the best Thanksgiving in a long time and you sure deserve it! With your Ruler Venus moving ahead in your sign, you’re unstoppable now!

Scorpio (October 24- November 22): Now that the Sun has joined Mercury and Mars in your financial sector, you’re ready to do something extra fun for the Holidays, and you have such a stealthy poker face, you’ll be able to pull off a surprise for someone that will have everyone glowing. You’ve left a lot behind this year, and you’re turning your gaze to unexplored territory so get your bushwhacker suit on and redefine stuff! Don’t join the crowds for the big sales…shop online or locally instead and get lots of cool little things. Enjoy the Holiday kickoff!

Sagittarius (November 23 – December 20): You are all decked out and ready to go this week, so enjoy the heck out of Thanksgiving and all it has to offer. We’re almost at the end of a pretty awful year, but you’ve made it, you have people who love you and want to include you. You’re in a mood to play and others will happily engage in your games, if for no other reason just to watch you laugh! You’re at the end of a long haul, so let your buddies fill you with energy and soak it all in.

Capricorn (December 21 – January 20): The goodness of last week’s Full Moon still holds, and this week finds you moving at speed to make up for lost time. You may have a lot of loose ends to tie up, but be sure to leave Wednesday and Thursday clear for celebrating. Children figure prominently now in one way or another, and if you’re trying to have a baby you may already be on the way to that achievement and hopefully your Thanksgiving will be filled with abundance, no matter how humble. The greatest thing about this time of year is gathering over hot drinks and appreciating warmth.

Aquarius (January 21 – February 20): You’re not a real foodie in many ways, but Thanksgiving is always a welcome celebration, especially in these financially dismal times. You will celebrate in your own style, and due to three planets now in your sector of friends/goals, you may have a bigger crowd than normal. Just share the love and be happy. As you recover from this year’s losses you can pause and give thanks for what has endured; look around you and see what makes you smile, and give yourself a pat on the back for having made it this far!

Pisces (February 21 – March 20): Here we are, the first big week of the winter holidays and we may even have snow to boot! Please check your home to be sure you didn’t overlook anything in case the temperature drops, because its likely to show up this week, around Wednesday. Thursday will be a fabulous time with the food and festivities because it is a day of thanks, and you are good at bringing up the deep feelings of gratitude (have your tissues too in case you cry). Jupiter is working well for you now so make the most of it!
