Two young participants try on the uniform of the trade.

Island Rec’s 2nd Annual Touch-A-Truck event was a big hit with nearly 150 kids and their families in attendance. There were plenty of trucks to climb into and interesting equipment to explore thanks to all of the professionals who volunteered there time, energy and vehicles including the Town of Friday Harbor Utilities/Maintenance Division, and Fire Department, OPALCO, SJI EMS, SJI School District, Car Quest, San Juan County Sheriffs Department, and the US Postal Service. Island Rec would also like to thank Nate’s Automotive for sponsoring the Event and Kiwanis for giving out free hotdogs. In addition to all the fun activities there were exciting raffles to enter. One lucky girl and her friend even won a ride to school with the Sheriff in patrol car.
