Senior Hamlet Open House: The Senior Hamlet in the Village is having an open house. Friday July 3 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and July 4 from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. and again after the parade until 2:00 p.m.

Ice Cream Social: Come enjoy a treat and play on the new playground equipment. Also explore the School’s L.I.F.E. Gardens and new L.I.F.E Trail. Make your own Ice Cream Sundae with Lopez Island Creamery’s awesome ice cream and yummy toppings bar. Proceeds to benefit Middle School Sports. 7 - 9 p.m. in the School’s Multi-Purpose Room. Overton Berry Ensemble – Eleven is Forever Tour: Taking place outside at the Edenwild Inn and presented by Lopez School Music Advocacy Foundation Providing music education in our schools, Overton Berry returns for the fourth year to perform with his ensemble. 6:00 p.m. Tickets $15, students free. Puppet Adventures in China: Under the direction of Chris Carter, founder of Northwest Puppet Center, workshop participants will make shadow puppets and scenery for the story of the Monkey King, beloved trickster hero of China. Friends of Lopez Library Book Sale: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lopez Community Center; all proceeds go to support the Lopez Library.

Fifth of July Cleanup: Arrive at Peninsula Road Otis Perkins Park 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. What comes up, must come down and get picked up. Objective is to make the area look like Fireworks never happened. Compensation: coffee and sticky bits. With of course wonderful beach front dining. Benefits: Plenty of early morning exercise and lots of fresh air and participation in a great group activity.
Ballet Folklorico Monarca: A community Fiesta featuring Ballet Forklorico Monarca at the Lopez Community Center with Hispanic Food and a Beer Garden starting at 6:00 p.m. Adults $10, Youth $5, Family up to 5 $25.

Full Moon Kayak Paddle: Come discover the beauty of bioluminescence as you paddle under the full moon with experienced guide from locally owned Cascadia Kayak Tours. Bring your own boat or check into availability of ours. 9-11 p.m. Ages 12 to adult. Fee $30. Offered through the Lopez Island Family Resource Center’s Summer Workshop Program. Public talk by Author Ken Burr : A public talk and reading from his new book. Burr will lead a discussion about gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgendered folk and their allies who have found a way to connect their sexual orientation with meaningful spirituality. At the Lopez Library, 7:00 p.m.

Invest in your food. Invest in your farmer: The Lopez Community Farm has begun registration for their upcoming 26-week CSA season (June-November). Community Supported Agriculture shares range from $400-$600 depending on size. Each week’s harvest reflects the changing seasons of the freshest vegetables, herbs, and flowers. This year fresh, pastured eggs are an additional option to the vegetable package. To inquire about becoming a member email lopezcsa@yahoo.com or call Blake or Julie at 468-3067. Peace Vigil: Every Fri from 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm (across from the Love Dog) Imagine Peace...come stand in awareness at the “Peace Vigil.”
Tai Chi on Lopez: Tai Chi will resume it normal schedule of class every Wednesday. Advanced at 9 a.m. and beginning at 10 a.m. to be held at the Lopez Community Center. For more information, call Terry Marshall at 468-4340.
Lopez AA Meetings: At the Children’s Center: Monday, 7:30 p.m. Monday Big Book 7:30 p.m., Friday 12X12. Then Wednesday Women’s Meeting 4:00 p.m. Call Peggy 468-4648 for directions. Saturday 12:00 p.m. is the regular AA meeting. Al-Anon is Fridays at 9:00 a.m. is in the Parish Hall of Grace Episcopal Church.
