Lopez

Halloween dance at the Grange

Halloween BOOgie at the Lopez Grange. Come join them for dancing, a costume contest, a scream contest, treats, and surprises. Doors open at 8 p.m. on Oct. 31. Local DJs, children’s costume procession at 9 a.m. Adult costumes judged at 10 a.m. Bring a picture or item that reminds you of those who have passed on. Suggested $5 donation.

Fall kid event

Sunset Builders Supply is hosting its fall annual kid event on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come decorate a container and plant it with holiday paper white bulbs. Makes a great gift or just fun to grow for yourself. Bring markers or crayons to color the outside of container if you like, but supplies will be available. Cookies and juice too. Free for kids under the age of 12.

Yoga for kids

Join Lewellyne Arden for fun-filled and quick-paced yoga for kids. Create stories, becoming animals, mountains, trees, boats, and anything else you can imagine through the yoga poses. Handstands, headstands, and backbends are all part of the fun! Wear comfortable clothing. Open to 1st -5th graders; max 10 kids. Class will be held on Tuesdays starting Nov. 4 at the Lopez Elementary School as part of the Lopez Island Family Resource Center’s After School Program. Cost is $20 for four sessions, scholarships available for those in financial need. Preregistration required. Call LIFRC at 468-4117 with questions.

Art of the World for Kids

Create art projects from different places around the world with Americorps volunteer Claire Nollman and Lopez School art teacher Valerie Yukluk. Projects will include musical instruments, masks, beads, and more. During class listen to world music and learn the crafts’ significance to the cultures from which they originate. Wear clothes that can get messy! Open to 1st thru 5th graders. Thursdays starting Nov. 6 at the Lopez Elementary School. Offered as part of the Lopez Island Family Resource Center’s After School Program. Cost is $30 for 5 sessions, scholarships available for those in financial need. Preregistration required. Teen Halloween Party

Teens put on your mask and come join the fun at Island Rec’s 9th Annual Teen Halloween Party on Friday, Oct. 31 from 7:30-10 p.m. at the fair grounds. This free party is open to teens in 6th through 12th grade. There will be music, dancing, food activities and a costume contests with some great prizes. Come out and play! Adult volunteers are needed for this event. Please call Abby at 378-4953 if you are interested in helping out.
